My Cellar Wines

As I say, make sure you try at least one of these wines.  Below I’ve made a list of my favourite producers that are pumping out exceptionally full bodied Bordeaux blends with 100% Niagara grown fruit.  When the weather is nice to us, our limestone rich soils can yield classic bordeaux like results.  All the producers I’ve listed are quite small in production, mostly coming from estate vineyards, and if not, small vineyards farmed meticulously.  Some of the producers are organic and some not, however I truly think organic farming is the future.  Each year the number of organic producers doubles.  At first, I thought organic wines were a joke.  Syrupy and disjointed with odd earthy notes.  But practice makes perfect, and all good things come in time – especially to passionate hard working people.  Once the vineyard has somewhat adapted to its natural environment, thus learning how to defend itself from predators, organically farmed vineyards start producing magical grapes year after year.  Recently  some of the best wines I’ve tasted have come from organically farmed vineyards.  Good wine, environmentally safe…that’s win win!  I really think people need to give organic wines another chance.  While I’m on this topic I should point out the difference between “Organic” wine produced in Canada compared to “Natural” wines produced in the USA.  Our wines although produced with non toxic spays, still contain sulphites to help “clean” the wine… so to speak.  Different countries have different regulations and standards, so yes,  you still have to do your research and ask the right questions.  Last thing you want to drink is a “Naturally” produced wine that is overwhelmed with bacteria and tastes disgusting.  Anyway, I’m getting off topic as usual.  Here’s my list, just click the winery’s name to access their website.   Cheers!
